Detectives are investigating the killing of a man whose body was found lying by the roadside in the Kamaguta area, Murang’a County.

The man was identified as Peter Ngugi, 60. His body was discovered in Gaturi village on the night of April 27, several hours after the incident.

Upon physical examination, the body had a visible deep cut wound on the right side at the back of the head, police officers who attended the scene said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

The incident was among five reported as police launched investigations into the separate cases.

In Sigomere, Ugunja, Siaya County, a man was found dead by the roadside in what police suspect to be a killing.

Police said the discovery was made on Tuesday morning by local boda boda riders.

The body, which had a deep cut on the head believed to have been inflicted by a sharp object, was identified as Patrick Were, 31, before it was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

The motive of the incident was not immediately established, police said.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating three other separate deaths reported in different areas.

In Eshilakwe, Kakamega County, Paul Ongasia Amakove, 39, was found dead by the roadside after an alleged assault by unknown persons.

In Kinoo, Kiambu County, Henry Ndirangu, 59, was found dead by the roadside with blood observed from his mouth and ears.

Police said they suspect he may have been fatally assaulted, and efforts to trace those responsible are ongoing.

This followed the April 26 incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

In Kaptama, Bungoma County, Caleb Kwemoi, 39, was found dead in his house in Chemoge village.

The body did not have any visible injuries when it was discovered and was moved to the mortuary. He had, however, earlier reported being assaulted by persons known to him over issues that remain unclear.

In a separate incident in the Kahawa West area, Nairobi, 19-year-old Grace Wanja was found dead following an electrocution incident on the rooftop of a building.

This was after she came into contact with an exposed live electric cable running next to an incomplete perimeter wall of a house.

Police said the body had injuries on the neck and was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy and other procedures.

Police said they are investigating all the incidents with the aim of establishing the circumstances and pursuing justice.
