Smartphones dominate how Kenyans access the internet, with 79 per cent of users relying on the devices to get online, according to the GeoPoll April 2026 report.
The data highlights the central role mobile technology plays in the country’s digital ecosystem, far outpacing other access points.
Computers and laptops account for just 14 per cent of usage, while tablets remain marginal at four per cent.
Shared public devices, such as those in cyber cafés, are now used by only two per cent of internet users, reflecting a shift toward personal, on-the-go connectivity.
The report also shows that 87 per cent of Kenyans access the internet several times a day, underlining how deeply embedded digital platforms have become in everyday life.
However, increased connectivity comes with growing risks, including exposure to cybercrime.
As more users depend on smartphones for communication, business and financial transactions, experts are calling for stronger digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness to protect users in an increasingly connected environment.
