
The latest industry trends report from the Communications Authority of Kenya shows that television remains a dominant medium across the country, with distinct regional leaders emerging in the final quarter of 2025.
Nairobi holds the top position with a viewership rate of 84 per cent, reflecting the high density of media consumption in the capital.
The Central region follows closely at 79 per cent, while Upper Eastern maintains a strong presence at 77 per cent.
The Lake and Lower Eastern regions round out the top five, recording viewership rates of 74 per cent and 73 per cent, respectively.
Content preferences reveal that news continues to be the primary driver of audience engagement, accounting for 37.6 per cent of total viewership.
Entertainment and drama remain popular as the second most-watched category at 27.2 per cent
While sports viewership sits at 11.1 per cent, it experiences notable growth during major tournaments.
These figures underscore the vital role of television in delivering information and entertainment to diverse Kenyan households.
