A funeral service usually offers a quiet space for reflection and final farewells. However, a recent burial took a dramatic turn when a young woman, identified as part of the Gen Z generation, chose the pulpit to voice a biting truth.
The now-viral video captures her fearless address to a crowd of mourners. She accused them of providing pomp and colour for a burial while having been absent during her mother's darkest hours.
A Blistering Accusation
The young woman did not hold back. She stood before the congregation and directly challenged the sincerity of those in attendance.
"When my mother went to hospital, nobody ever bothered to follow up and know how she was doing. Why are you sugarcoating that you love each other, but when someone is facing a challenge, and she’s your blood, you never show up?” she asked.
She argued that the outpouring of support seen at the funeral arrived too late to be of any real consequence. In her view, the resources and presence being displayed could have saved a life if they had been offered earlier.
The Lonely Fight for Life
The transcript of the video reveals a painful backstory of medical struggles. The daughter described how her mother was hospitalised and left without support from the extended family.
She noted that only a tiny circle—including herself and few individuals were left to handle the logistics and costs of treatment. The daughter emphasised that it wasn’t just about money; the lack of moral support was equally devastating.

"There was no support, not even just to go and see her," she said in the video transcript. She accused the relatives of "sugar-coating" their love only after the tragedy had occurred.
"If she had received this kind of support when she was unwell, she could still be alive today."
The Internet Weighs In
The footage has sparked a massive debate across social media platforms, with views on the girl's actions deeply divided.
@d_kanyotu felt the situation was relatable, noting that relatives are often the only people who can help, regardless of personal feelings.
@integritykenya called it a "sad reality of life," particularly in Africa, where people are quick to "changa" (contribute) for a death but slow to support a living person’s hustle or health.
@Njunguna took a more critical stance, suggesting that younger generations have a "know it all attitude" and must realise that everyone is fighting their own battles.
@wakibanzeke was harsher, labelling her a "narcissistic spoilt brat" and suggesting that such outbursts should lead to being left to bury the dead alone.
@ForensicsKuria argued that relatives "don't have to be there" and that this mentality should not be tolerated.
@Annanason91123 advised the girl to focus only on immediate family, saying, "The rest aren't that important."
@Kenyanmentality warned that once the funeral crowd disappears, the daughter may regret abusing the only people she can turn to.
@AndrewKibe82294 supported the daughter, stating, "The truth sets you free... Gen Z, keep on speaking your mind."
@Xtian_scientist offered sympathy, saying, "Am so sorry society failed you."
@ODCaroline reminded readers that death is inevitable and "nothing can stop it" when the day comes.
@AleeHusssein defended her right to speak, asking, "Imagine someone telling you keep quiet on your Mother’s Burial!!"
@Gilead_1 questioned the family's history, asking if the girl’s own family had been available for others in the past.
@Joseph813352591 dismissed the outburst as "teen girls running their mouths," claiming they think they know too much.
