The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has initiated a strict eight-point safety checklist, dubbed #WatotoWafikeSalama, to enhance learner safety for the second term, targeting school vehicle compliance.

Key measures mandate that all school transport vehicles are thoroughly inspected, roadworthy and fitted with functional seatbelts and speed limiters.

Schools must hire licensed, qualified drivers and avoid risky, unauthorized routes.

NTSA has prohibited school transport operations from 6pm to 6am.

The authority has further demanded strict supervision of drivers to prevent fatigue, speeding, and drunk driving, with increased, targeted enforcement and patrols nationwide
