A mission to adjudicate a piece of land turned tragic after a 36-year-old man died following an attack in the Entasekera area, Narok County.
Police said Maroichi Bulat, 36, was struck by arrows as he accompanied locals during a land adjudication exercise in Osupuko-Oirobi village in Morijo area.
The incident is reported to have followed a long-running land dispute in the area, according to police, in relation to the April 23 incident.
A group of officials, including local chiefs, had visited the area for a land adjudication exercise when an individual reportedly turned violent and attacked one of them, police said.
The attacker fled the scene as other officials ran for safety after noticing the victim had been injured.
The man was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The body was moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, as efforts to trace the suspect continued. The exercise was, in the meantime, suspended, police said.
Police said a suspect was arrested on Sunday in the area and taken into custody for processing ahead of a planned court appearance.
In a separate incident in Merigi, Bomet County, a 19-year-old woman was found dead near her home following an altercation.

She had a deep cut on the neck and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The motive of the incident was not immediately established, police said, as the body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy and other procedures.
In another incident, in Kolowa, Baringo County, the body of a woman was found floating in a water pan in Domo village, with the duration it had been there not immediately established.
The body was not identified and was moved to a mortuary for further procedures.
