Nairobi is preparing for a significant milestone in its local entertainment scene. Comedian Jaymoh Decin has officially announced his first-ever live comedy experience.

Titled the ‘Sudhee Experience’, the event is set to take place at the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The announcement marks the culmination of a decade spent in the industry. For Jaymoh, the journey from a classroom "joker" to a headline act at the KICC has been anything but linear.

The Laugh That Changed Everything

The comedian’s career began with an unusual incident during his school years. Jaymoh Decin was always known for his sense of humour, but one particular moment served as a wake-up call.

He recounted a time when he made a female student laugh so intensely that she nearly fainted.

The incident caused a stir within the school. Rather than receiving applause, Jaymoh Decin found himself in trouble with the authorities. He was nearly suspended for the disruption caused by the girl's reaction.

However, the moment stayed with him. It made him realise the physical power of his wit.

“One day, I made a girl laugh until she fainted, I almost got suspended,” Jaymoh recalled when discussing his decision to pursue comedy professionally.

A Decade of Finding Identity

The road to the KICC has been ten years in the making. A decade ago, Jaymohdecin admits he had "no plan" and "no direction". At the time, he felt that no one was watching his progress. He was simply a young man with a dream and a confusing passion.

Before settling on comedy, he explored various creative paths to find his identity. He tried his hand at being a footballer, a rapper, and a spoken word artist. During these experimental years, he was often dismissed by peers as just a joker.

“I tried a lot of things to find my identity. I’ve been a footballer, I’ve been a spoken word artist, I’ve been a rapper, I’ve been a dancer,” he revealed.

Despite the lack of a clear path, a small group of people saw his potential. They constantly encouraged him to take his comedic talent seriously. This support eventually helped him transform what he called a "confusing passion" into a clear professional purpose.

“That incident of a girl fainting made me say to myself, ‘let me try this comedy and see if Kenyans will also faint’. And that has been a journey.”

From Influencer to the Main Stage

Jaymohdecin’s persistence has recently been validated on a national level. He was officially crowned the "Comedy Influencer of the Year."

The award was presented amid "royal decree and roaring cheers," signifying his rise to the top of the digital comedy space.

Now, he is moving from mobile screens to the physical stage. He describes the ‘Sudhee Experience’ as more than just a stand-up show. To him, it is a celebration of ten years of hard work. He wants his audience to be part of the final chapter of this ten-year story.

"This is not just a show but 10 years of work. This time around, you get to be part of it," Jaymoh Decin told his followers.
