Jamaican dancehall star Konshens has defended his love for Kenya and Uganda after some people questioned his commitment to the East African music scene.
The singer argued that his support for the region goes beyond performing at concerts, pointing to his collaborations with local artistes and his willingness to work with musicians from East Africa over the years.
In a shared post, Konshens challenged those questioning his loyalty to name other Jamaican artistes who had shown the region similar support.
“And by the way, tell me which artiste has the most love and shows the most love to East African artistes over the years,” he wrote.

Konshens lists East African collaborations
The Gal a Bubble hitmaker highlighted several collaborations with musicians from the region, saying his catalogue reflected his connection with East African music.
“Try to list all my features and remixes with artistes from the region,” he added, mentioning his work with Ugandan singer A Pass and other musicians.
Konshens also referenced projects involving Toxic and Ethic Entertainment, pointing to remixes and collaborations that he said demonstrated his continued engagement with the region.
He mentioned the Gamululu collaboration with A Pass and a remix involving Kenyan group Ethic Entertainment, which he referred to as Figa. He also brought up a remix involving Toxic and Backbenchers.
The singer suggested that his contribution should not be measured only by the number of times he performs in East Africa, arguing that his musical links with artistes from the region were also evidence of his support.
Konshens says his support goes beyond shows
Konshens has previously expressed affection for his Kenyan audience, whose support has helped sustain his popularity in the country. In January 2022, he jokingly adopted the Kenyan name “Konshens Otieno” while thanking fans after a visit to Nairobi.
More recently, he spoke about his connection with East African fans while addressing changes to scheduled performances, saying he wanted to give supporters who had waited years to see him a worthwhile experience.
His latest remarks place the focus on collaboration, with the singer presenting his work with regional musicians as evidence of his long-standing relationship with East Africa.
For Konshens, the message was clear: he believes his record of working with East African artistes speaks for itself, and he challenged critics to consider those collaborations before questioning his love for the region.
