Climate change is increasingly affecting tomato production, with experts warning of declining yields and quality due to extreme weather patterns.

According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme, high temperatures are stressing plants and reducing fruit size, while extreme heat can cause sunscald that damages tomato skin.

Irregular rainfall is also triggering fruit cracking, lowering market value. Excess rain encourages fungal diseases like blight, while drought stunts growth. Warmer conditions accelerate pest reproduction, and flooding can destroy roots, highlighting the growing threat to food security.
