
A police officer was found dead at her home in Mangu area, Rongai Subcounty, Nakuru county.
Corporal Veronica Ondari was discovered lifeless on her bed on April 24, 2026, police and the family said.
She was attached to Bomet Traffic Base.
Police officers from Menengai Police Station, accompanied by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Rongai, visited the scene and found no visible injuries on the body.
The scene was processed and documented, with preliminary investigations indicating that the officer had been battling heart-related complications for some time and had frequently sought medical treatment.
Her body was moved to the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital mortuary for preservation, pending a postmortem examination.
Authorities have classified the incident as a sudden death, with investigations ongoing.
Meanwhile, police in Baringo county launched a manhunt for a suspect following the death of a 36-year-old woman in what is believed to be a domestic violence-related killing in Kolowa Subcounty.

Police who responded to the scene found the body of Cheposetem Polis lying outside her house with visible injuries on her back.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had returned home the previous night at around 9:00 p.m. in the company of her husband and that both were allegedly intoxicated at the time.
Police suspect the husband may have assaulted her, leading to her death. He is currently at large.
An axe believed to have been used in the attack was recovered within the compound and secured as an exhibit. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene.
The body was moved to Kabarnet Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.
Police said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspect as investigations into the incident continue.
In a different incident, a devastating fire incident in Nairobi’s Kayole area claimed the life of a three-year-old child and left a family counting losses after their house was reduced to ashes.
According to police, the fire broke out on the night of April 24, 2026, at around 11:04 pm in Sulami area within Kayole Sub-County.
Police responded swiftly to the distress call and arrived at the scene, where they established that a house belonging to a woman had been engulfed in flames.
With the help of members of the public, the fire was eventually contained, but not before it caused significant damage.
Tragically, the woman’s three-year-old son perished in the inferno.
The fire also destroyed property of unknown value.
The body of the minor was moved to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Police have since processed the scene and launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
