Sweden leads the world in personal savings, with households setting aside 16 per cent of their income, according to new global data by Voronoi through Visual Capitalist.

The figures, highlighted in a Star Digital infographic titled “Where people save the most”, show Hungary ranking second with a savings rate of 14.3 per cent, followed by Czechia at 13.7 per cent and France at 12.8 per cent.

Austria recorded 11.7 per cent, while Germany followed closely at 11.2 per cent.

The Netherlands posted a savings rate of 9.5 per cent, ahead of Spain at 9.2 per cent, Ireland at 9 per cent and Denmark at 8.5 per cent, completing the global top 10.

The data notes that most countries used 2024 figures, while some nations relied on earlier statistics, including the United States and Japan.
