Veteran Kenyan radio presenter Joyce Gituro has shared the touching story behind her youngest son’s name. In a recent social media update, she explained that his name was chosen with a specific spiritual purpose in mind.

The revelation came as her son, Jakes Nyanjom, celebrated his 22nd birthday. Jakes is already following a similar career path to his mother. He currently works as a radio presenter at Homeboyz Radio.

A Prophetic Naming

Taking to Instagram to mark the milestone, Gituro posted a heartfelt tribute to her last born. She described the naming of her son as a prophetic act intended to shape his future.

The broadcaster expressed a deep conviction that her son would eventually fulfill this religious calling. She told her audience that she is convinced he will do it because she believes it is what he was "born to do."

“I'm convinced you will do it because that's what you were born to do. I love you, now and always. Happy blessed birthday my son,” she added.

The Inspiration: Bishop T.D. Jakes

The man who inspired the name is one of the most recognisable religious figures globally. Bishop T.D. Jakes is a prominent American pastor, author, and filmmaker.

He is the founder of The Potter’s House, a non-denominational megachurch located in Dallas, Texas. Since he established the church in 1996, it has grown to serve a massive congregation of over 30,000 members.

"I wish you nothing but happiness, prosperity, love and wisdom," Gituro wrote in her birthday blessing.

Bishop Jakes is widely regarded as a "master communicator." He is influential not just in the pulpit, but also through his various media ventures and humanitarian efforts.

Following the Legacy

While the prophetic naming points towards a future in the ministry, Jakes Nyanjom is currently making his own mark on the airwaves. His role at Homeboyz Radio suggests he has already embraced the communication skills associated with his namesake.

In response to his mother's public blessing and the reveal of his name's origin, Jakes kept his reply short and appreciative. "Thank you mum," he wrote back on the platform.

Gituro concluded her message with a traditional mother’s blessing. She wished her son a "happy blessed birthday" and affirmed her love for him.
