Raburu’s entry into the race is expected to inject new dynamics into the Kisumu senatorial contest, particularly among younger voters and those drawn to his background in media and the creative industry.

The Linda Mwananchi movement has been positioning itself as a youth-driven platform advocating for governance reforms and increased participation of young people in leadership.

Raburu left Citizen TV in June 2023 after 13 years, having joined in 2010. He grew his career from an intern to one of the most celebrated TV hosts in the country. He transitioned from an intern to a News reporter, and later a host of the 10 over 10 show.

Ruburu later worked for TV 47 as the host of the Wabebe Experience show and exited in 2024.

The Linda Mwananchi's movement is set to intensify its political mobilisation in the Nyanza region with back-to-back rallies scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The team, led by Edwin Sifuna, will begin its engagements in Vihiga on Saturday before proceeding to Kisumu on Sunday, April 26, where a major rally is planned.

The weekend events are expected to draw a host of prominent leaders allied to the movement, including Siaya Governor Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, among other leaders.

The rallies come amid growing political activity across the country, with leaders increasingly taking their campaigns to the grassroots as they seek to rally support around key economic and governance issues.

On April 19, leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) held a series of public engagements in Nakuru.

The group also announced

plans for three consecutive days of protests in June.

Orengo said the demonstrations will be held on June 24, 25 and 26 to coincide with the anniversary of Gen Z-led protests.
