UDA grassroots elections currently ongoing./HANDOUTThe United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has moved to contain potential fallout from its grassroots elections, activating its internal dispute resolution system just hours before thousands of members cast their votes across the country.
In a public notice, the party said aggrieved members will have just 24 hours after the results are declared to file complaints with its Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC).
“Notice is hereby given that UDA Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) shall be available to receive, hear, and determine all disputes relating to today’s Repeat Phase II Grassroots Elections,” the party said.
“All electoral disputes should be lodged within twenty-four (24) hours upon declaration of results or nomination decision giving rise to the respective dispute,” it added.
The exercise is set to see more than 450,000 registered members participate in elections across over 9,000 polling stations nationwide.
The Repeat Phase II polls will be conducted in 18 counties, including Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Kisii, Bungoma, Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Isiolo, Marsabit, Taita Taveta, Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Turkana.
UDA said candidates drawn from diverse groups—including women, youth, special interest groups, farmers, religious leaders, professionals and small-scale traders—are contesting for 20 different positions at the polling station level.
To streamline the process, the party will deploy technology, with about 9,500 electronic voting tablets already distributed to polling centres. Results will be uploaded to the party’s website.
At the same time, the party has postponed grassroots elections in Tana River and Turkana counties.
According to National Elections Board chair Anthony Mwaura, the exercise has been pushed from April 23 to May 2, 2026, to allow completion of key logistical and administrative preparations.
“This adjustment has been made to allow for the finalisation of essential logistical and administrative arrangements, thereby facilitating a well-coordinated electoral process,” he said
