The Kenyan digital space has been ignited by a passionate plea for government intervention in family planning. Popular TikToker Mummie Francie took to her Instagram to express her heartbreak and frustration after watching a viral video of a 14-year-old boy from Kitui.

In the widely shared footage, the young teenager is seen struggling to provide for his siblings. The weight of his responsibilities at such a tender age moved the content creator to advocate for radical shifts in how the country handles reproductive health and parental responsibility.

"He is Just a child."

Mummie Francie, visibly emotional in her video response, questioned the legality of current family planning policies. She suggested that the government should take a firmer hand in preventing situations where children are born into extreme hardship.

"I have just come from TikTok to look at the story of this 14-year-old boy—the boy from Kitui. Is it illegal to force family planning on some other parents?” she questioned.

The influencer argued that if a parent cannot provide for their offspring, the state should intervene through medical procedures to prevent further births. She suggested that the burden of raising children in poverty often falls on the oldest child, robbing them of their youth and education.

“We need to force family planning, tying of tubes and any other medical procedure to limit watu wanazaa ovyo ovyo na kutesa Watoto,” she advocated.

A Call for Legislative Action

Mummie Francie did not stop at mere criticism. She expressed a desire to see these issues debated in the National Assembly. She called for a program that would make family planning and procedures such as the "tying of tubes" mandatory for those unable to support large families.

"I want to be at the front line to take this topic to Parliament. It should be stamped and I will be ready to walk with nurses and doctors."

She insisted that such a program should be fully funded by the government as a free medical service. Her argument is rooted in the belief that "reckless" procreation leads to the suffering of innocent children who are left to "fend for themselves" like the boy from Kitui.

The "Parental License" Debate

In a move that sparked intense debate among her followers, Mummie Francie suggested that people should undergo a "test" or vetting process before being allowed to have children. This would determine if a couple has the financial and emotional capacity to raise a child.

"At this point, we should start being tested to see if you can raise a child or not before you are given permission to give birth,” she proposed.

While acknowledging that her stance might anger many, she maintained that the sight of children suffering is a greater tragedy than the infringement on reproductive rights.
