Kenya's LPG consumption trend/HILLARY BETT

Kenya’s demand for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recorded a steady rise in the second half of 2025, reflecting growing adoption of cleaner cooking energy.

Data from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority shows consumption increased from 41,525.56 metric tonnes in July to 42,539.38 metric tonnes in December, marking an overall growth of 14.59 per cent over the period.

The trend indicates relatively stable month-to-month demand, with slight fluctuations observed in September, October and November before rebounding in December.

August registered the highest consumption at 42,708.44 metric tonnes, underscoring sustained uptake by households and businesses.

Kenya continues to rely heavily on imports to meet LPG demand, with key entry points being the ports of Mombasa and Kilifi, alongside land routes through Namanga, Isebania and Lunga Lunga.
