The Premier League title race was blown wide open on Sunday after Manchester City secured a pivotal 2-1 victory over league leaders Arsenal.

The result has sparked a wave of reactions across Kenya, with several high-profile celebrities and "Gunners" supporters taking to social media to share their frustration, loyalty, and even jokes.

The "Swara" of the Finale Video

Among the most vocal was rapper Khaligraph Jones, who expressed deep regret over his recent appearance in a major music project.

However, following Arsenal's slump, Khaligraph suggested his choice of attire brought "swara," a local term for bad luck. He even publicly requested the creators to remove his segments from the YouTube video.

"It was a big mistake agreeing to be in this video, Hii ndio imeleta swara [This is what brought bad luck]."

Ofweneke Swaps Teams for Pritty Vishy

Radio host and comedian Dr Ofweneke took a more drastic approach to the defeat. Known for his comedic timing, he declared that he was "dumping" the club entirely. In a social media post, he claimed he would rather support content creator Pritty Vishy than continue enduring the stress of being an Arsenal fan.

High Pressure and Emotional Outbursts

She jokingly questioned if the team had any mercy, even for a pregnant woman, before adding that they were increasing her pressure.

“Arsenal hawana huruma ata kwa mjamzito? Wameamua kuniongeza pressure jamani,” she posted.

Meanwhile, actress Trisha Khalid issued a playful warning to the public. She advised people to stay away from Arsenal fans, describing them as being in a state of high anger following the loss.

Media personality Massawe Japanni echoed the sentiment of many "newbie" fans, stating she was done with football after the disappointment.

"Done with football ... Was just a newbie.”

Loyalty Amidst the Storm

Despite the outcry, some celebrity fans remained defiant. Content creator Wangare Caddie acknowledged the pain of the defeat but reminded rival fans that the title is still within Arsenal's reach.

She urged supporters to ignore the "noise" and focus on the upcoming home match against Newcastle.

"I won't lie to you this one is painful. But when it's all said and done... the war? Still in our hands."

The creator Usefulidioty also pledged his loyalty, stating the fans would stick together and fight until the end.

“Till the very end Gunners. Whatever the weather, we stick together and fight,” he said.

Comedian Tom Daktari, however, summed up the general mood with a laugh, noting that matters concerning Arsenal are always difficult.

“Supporting Arsenal is a useless thing even if you are paid. No wonder everyone hates Arsenal. Mambo ya Arsenali ni ngumu.”

The State of the Race

The match at the Etihad Stadium saw Rayan Cherki open the scoring for City in the 16th minute. Arsenal’s Kai Havertz equalised just two minutes later, but a 65th-minute strike from Erling Haaland sealed the win for the defending champions.

The gap at the top of the table has now been reduced to just three points. With the title race entering its final stages, the pressure on Arsenal to maintain their lead has never been higher.
