A foreign national has been arrested in an anti-drug operation in Mombasa County following an intelligence-led intervention by officers from the National Police Service.
According to the National Police Service, the operation began after officers received crucial intelligence, prompting a coordinated response by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and officers from Kadzandani Police Station.
The officers followed up on the information in the Musufini area, where a suspected foreign drug trafficker was believed to be operating, leading to what authorities described as a swift and calculated operation.
Acting on the intelligence, the officers moved in and arrested the suspect, effectively disrupting the suspected illegal activity.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of heroin packaged in various forms, which police said pointed to a structured distribution network intended to evade detection while supplying different points within the drug trade chain.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspected operation, including possible accomplices and distribution links.
Police say the probe is part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of hard drugs in the coastal region and other parts of the country.
The National Police Service said the operation highlights the importance of timely intelligence in tackling drug trafficking and reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling networks it says pose a threat to public safety, health, and community well-being.
