Fan’s 20-Year Lyric Mix-Up Gets Hilarious Reaction From Nameless

Kenyan pop legend Nameless has officially accepted a public apology from a long-time fan. This follows a viral confession regarding the lyrics of his classic hit song, ‘Deadly’.

The exchange has entertained social media users as the singer prepares for a major career milestone.

The Confession on TikTok

Brayo Wheels, a well-known disability advocate, recently shared a video on TikTok. In the clip, he admitted to singing the wrong words to ‘Deadly’ for nearly two decades.

He told his followers that he had mistakenly replaced the word "shapely" with "shapeless" every time he sang along.

“Before even Nameless comes for me, I just want to come clean, and I want to disclose something. Because I’ve learnt and I’m here to atone. When I was a young boy and ‘Deadly’ came out, I used to sing the chorus in a very different way,” the man confessed.

“Once I grew up I understood that he was saying a completely different thing. I used to say ‘shapeless’ instead of shapely,” he added.

Brayo Wheels reached out to the singer to "set his soul free" before a major upcoming event. The apology quickly gained traction online, eventually catching the eye of Nameless himself.

Nameless Responds with Humour

The singer responded to the confession with great humour on his Instagram page. He shared the video and jokingly questioned the logic of the mistaken lyrics.

"Apology accepted! Kama wewe ni team 'Shapeless' kuwa kama @brayo_wheels and confess kwa comments!!” Nameless said.

He asked his fans why he would ever describe someone as "shapeless" in a song meant to be a compliment.

Nameless noted that he is now on a mission to correct historical wrongs one day at a time.

“We are correcting historical wrongs one day at a time! Why would I say “’ause you are Deadly, Shapeless, sexy especially” … WHY?” he posed.

Setting the Record Straight

The song ‘Deadly’ has been a staple of Kenyan dance floors since the early 2000s. To ensure no further confusion occurs, the official lyrics for the famous chorus have been reaffirmed.

The real lyrics are: "Coz you are Deadly, shapely, sexy, especially When you a-move around to the sound You come around, eventually…"

This light-hearted interaction comes at a significant time for the artist. Nameless is currently gearing up to celebrate 25 years in the music industry. He has remained a dominant force in East African music since his debut in the late 1990s.

To mark a quarter-century of hits, a massive anniversary concert has been scheduled. The event is scheduled for August 15 this year at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi.
