Kenya’s petroleum consumption saw a significant recovery in 2025, growing by 10.7% compared to the previous year. Data from the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA) attributes this surge to a robust rebound in the transport and industrial sectors.

Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) remains the most consumed fuel, followed closely by Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), both of which showed marked increases from 2024 levels.

While Fuel Oil 180 also saw a notable rise, Jet Fuel consumption experienced a slight dip. This overall growth signals a strengthening economy as industrial activities and transport demand return to high gear across the country.
