Almost three months after the loss of his wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, gospel DJ Krowbar has shared a poignant reflection on his journey of grief.

The popular entertainer, whose real name is Karumba Ngatia, took to social media to reveal a profound truth he has come to terms with since her passing.

A Marriage Unchanged by Death

In a heartfelt message, DJ Krowbar stated that he has accepted a new perspective on his relationship. He told his followers that despite the pain of loss, the end of his wife's life does not diminish what they shared.

“There is a reality I have to accept: ‘Death didn’t make my marriage ugly’,” he shared.

The DJ described his marriage as a gift. He noted that he continues to honour the time they were allowed together. He admitted to missing his wife deeply but explained that his faith provides a framework for his sorrow.

“In my wife's case; I honour the Lord for what he gifted me (a really good marriage) for the time He allowed. I loved this girl and I deeply, deeply miss her,” he added.

The Battle for Health

Joyce, affectionately known as Joy, passed away on 26 January 2026. She was 41 years old. Her death followed a long and public battle with kidney-related complications.

For DJ Krowbar, his Christian convictions have been central to his recovery process. He described death not as a finality, but as a "physical introduction" to Christ.

He expressed gratitude for the strength he felt during their time together, suggesting that he would not have had the capacity to navigate the seasons of her illness without his faith.

“Her death is a physical introduction of her to Christ. Truth be told, I couldn't have capacity if Christ weren't king over my life. He really did equip me for the journey,” he added.

He concluded his reflection with a message of hope and surrender, noting that "He who wounds heals."

The couple had been open about Joyce’s health struggles for some time, often requesting prayers and support from the public.

The kidney transplant, made possible by her sister’s donation, was a major moment in their fight against the illness.

Since the funeral in early February, the DJ has received widespread support from the gospel industry and fans alike as he navigates life as a widower and a single father to their three children.
