Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, accompanied by members of the Linda Wanchi team, has recorded a statement with Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers at Parliament over his recent attack in Kisumu.

Speaking on Tuesday, the team is demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of those alleged to have orchestrated an attack against him in Kisumu.

The group is calling for swift action, claiming they have what they describe as “overwhelming” evidence linking a senior state officer to the incident.

They further warned that they will pursue private prosecution if state agencies fail to move with speed to arrest and charge the said officer.

The delegation accused the government of abetting what they termed as rising cases of political violence and goonism, saying the attack on the senator is part of a wider pattern of intimidation against leaders.

They also criticised the government, claiming that it has not publicly addressed the attack on Osotsi.

“Stop shielding hooliganism. We don’t want Kenya to go the Haiti way,” Bomachoge MP Barongo said.

The team further announced plans to travel to Kisumu on April 26 for a public rally, where they are expected to mobilise supporters and push for accountability over the alleged attack.

The developments come amid heightened political tensions, with leaders trading blame over rising incidents of violence during political activities and public events.
