A new survey has shed light on where women are most likely to encounter bribery while seeking government and public services in Kenya.

Findings from the 2025 Kenya National Gender and Corruption Survey by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission show that civil registration officials, including birth and death officers, top the list at 30.8 per cent.

Police officers follow at 27.8 per cent, pointing to persistent concerns about corruption within law enforcement.

National Transport and Safety Authority officers rank third at 23.4 per cent, closely followed by immigration officers at 22.8 per cent.

Tax and revenue officers, as well as land registry officials, also feature prominently, each recording over 21 per cent.

The survey further shows that registration of persons officers handling ID services stands at 20.4 per cent, while prosecutors, public utilities officers, and magistrates record lower but notable figures.

The findings highlight systemic challenges in public service delivery and reinforce the need for stronger anti-corruption measures and accountability mechanisms.
