A new survey has revealed that men in Kenya are most likely to pay bribes to police officers while seeking government and public services.
According to the 2025 Kenya National Gender and Corruption Survey by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, 41.6 per cent of male respondents identified police officers as the primary recipients of bribes.
Civil registration officials, including birth and death officers, ranked second at 32.7 per cent.
Land registry officials and National Transport and Safety Authority officers followed, each recording 25.6 per cent.
Registration of persons officers handling ID services stood at 20.3 per cent, while immigration officers accounted for 16.3 per cent.
Tax and revenue officers were cited by 12.6 per cent of respondents, with magistrates and public utilities officers each at 11.3 per cent. Prosecutors recorded the lowest share at 9.6 per cent.
The findings point to widespread corruption across key public service sectors, highlighting the need for stronger accountability measures and reforms to restore public trust.
