Former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has alleged that the events witnessed in Kikuyu were orchestrated to disrupt a planned public engagement.
In a statement on Monday, Muturi said groups of individuals were present early in the day, creating tension before leaders could address residents.
“What unfolded in Kikuyu was carefully choreographed from the early hours of the morning,” he said.
According to him, the situation escalated into unrest, followed by a police response that interfered with what he described as a lawful meeting.
Muturi further claimed the incident reflects broader concerns about the environment for political participation, particularly as the country moves closer to the next elections.
“This was a full script designed to deny citizens the space to assemble, to speak, and ultimately, to participate freely in the democratic process,” he added.
He said his team is organizing and monitoring developments, including documenting incidents that may affect political activities.
Muturi maintained that supporters would remain engaged in the political process despite the challenges.
“The people will not be intimidated. The people will show up, and their voice will be heard,” he said.
