Kenyan teams have now shifted their attention to the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) games following the conclusion of the Brookside National Term One games in Kisumu.

This year’s FEASSA games will be held in Morogoro, Tanzania, from August 12 to 23, where Team Kenya will seek to retain the overall title. Kenya will be represented by the top three teams in each of the disciplines showcased at the Kisumu nationals.

Newly crowned national boys' 15s rugby champions Upper Hill School will lead Kenya’s alongside East Africa champions Kisii School and St Mary’s School, Yala.

Upper Hill reclaimed the national title after beating Kisii School 15-8 in an exciting final at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, while St Mary's beat former national and FEASSA champions, Kakamega School, 21-5 in the bronze medal match.

Upper Hill coach Eustace Sifuna said: “We have now turned our attention to the FEASSA games. We are not going to rest.”

Kisii School’s Edwin Morara said, despite losing in the national final, they are keen to retain the FEASSA title.

Butere Girls' extended their dominance over Kaya Tiwi, cruising to a 60-53 win in a closely contested final at Kisumu National Polytechnic.

St Brigid’s Kiminini overcame Barchando 70-48 to join the finalists on the road to Tanzania.

In the boys’ category, Friends School Kamusinga inspired by the competition’s Most Valuable Player, Shadrack Morara, beat Lukenya Academy 54-51 to win their maiden basketball title.

Defending champions Laiser Hill Academy settled for the bronze after a 61-51 win over St Mary’s School, Yala.  

In hockey, new champions St Joseph’s Girls Kitale, coached by John Lusaka, will seek to defend their FEASSA title.

St Joseph’s Girls, backed by their chief principal Rosebella Orwaru lifted their first-ever national hockey title after beating former champions Nyamira Girls' 2-1.

Ng’iya Girls clinched the bronze medal after a hard-fought 2-1 win over AIC Nyayo to also book a place in the regional games.

St Anthony’s Boys Kitale ended their three-year losing streak in the finals after a comeback win against 12-time champions Friends School Kamusinga.

St Anthony’s came from a goal down to hold Friends School Kamusinga to a 1-1 draw, forcing eight-seconds shoot out. In the shootout, Kitale won 4-1.

Our Lady of Mercy Ringa Boys' upset Nyanza champions and hosts Kisumu Day 2-1 to settle for third place.

FEASSA and national handball champions Moi Girls' Kamusinga, inspired by Lavenda Barbra, extended their dominance at the Term One Games with a 25-16 win over St Joseph’s Girls' Kitale. Barbra scored 10 times at Kisumu National Polytechnic.

Nyakach Girls' overcame Karai Girls' 22-17 in the third-place play-off. Debutants St Austin’s Matuu Day claimed the bronze medal after a narrow 17-16 win over Highway Secondary.
