Police said the suspects were found in possession of an imitation firearm and several dangerous weapons, including pangas and swords, which are suspected to have been used in criminal activities.

Authorities also recovered two television sets believed to be stolen property, along with house-breaking implements commonly used to facilitate burglaries in the area.

“The suspects were found in possession of an imitation firearm and other lethal weapons, including pangas and swords. We also recovered items suspected to have been stolen, alongside tools used in house break-ins,” the statement added.

All 10 suspects are currently being held at South B Police Station and are expected to be processed before being arraigned in court.

Police indicated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the gang’s operations and whether more suspects are at large.

The police service commended members of the public for their cooperation, noting that community intelligence played a critical role in the success of the operation.

“The National Police Service thanks the public for their support and urges them to remain vigilant and continue collaborating with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our neighbourhoods,” the statement said.

The arrests come amid heightened security concerns in parts of the country, with the government intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks and curb rising cases of gang activity and political violence.

Speaking in Lodwar, Turkana County, Raymond Omollo, the Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, warned that the government would take firm action against individuals involved in criminal gangs and acts of political violence.

“Criminal gangs and political goonism are a national challenge and will not be tolerated. Any individual or leader who engages in or facilitates such acts will be held accountable in accordance with the law,” Omollo said.

He added that security agencies have ramped up operations across the country, including disarmament efforts targeting illegal firearms, particularly in regions affected by banditry and cattle rustling.
