Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Volleyball Team has wrapped up an intensive week of training at their Nairobi camp in preparation for the upcoming CAVB Africa Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Egypt.

The team combined traditional drills with advanced sports science to ensure peak performance for the continental tournament, scheduled from April 13 to 24, 2026.

Players underwent comprehensive functional screening, high-performance assessments, and analysis through the VALD Smart Speed system and ForceDecks technology.

Head coach Geoffrey Omondi highlighted the role of modern performance tools in the team’s preparation.

“Our team is ready. Each player has shown dedication, discipline, and has worked tirelessly to reach this level. With the support of modern performance assessments and targeted training, we are confident in our ability to bring the trophy home,” he said.

The screenings, conducted by Blazers Performance Team, provided insights into players operating below optimal benchmarks, enabling targeted interventions to close performance gaps.

Athletes also received guidance on body functionality, recovery, and performance habits, ensuring the squad is physically and mentally primed for the competition.

The 14-player squad brings a blend of experience and emerging talent. Leading the team in the setter positions are Emmaculate Nekesa and Faith Imodiah. Opposite hitters Murambi Noel and Zeddy Cheruto are expected to provide scoring firepower.

The outside hitter line-up includes Leonida Kasaya, Akinyi Milka, Valentine Chemutai, and Sally Sikutwa, giving the team speed and versatility across the court.

In the middle, Ekaru Gladys, Sinaida Yvonne, Serena Busolo, and Mariana Sokoiyo bring strength and stability, while liberos Celestine Nyongesa and Sifuna Betty are tasked with defensive coverage to maintain resilience during matches.

Coach Omondi expressed satisfaction with the squad’s overall readiness. “Science-backed training was key to enabling the team to achieve peak performance,” he said.

The KPC Volleyball Team, established in 1984, competes in the Kenya Volleyball Federation League and in continental competitions.

Its players are often part of the national women’s team, the Malkia Strikers, representing Kenya in international tournaments.

The team’s final preparations in Nairobi emphasised a combination of athletic discipline, strategic skill-building, and cutting-edge performance technology.

Observers note that integrating sports science into training could provide the squad with a competitive edge as they pursue success in the Egyptian championship.

With a strong mix of skill, experience, and physical readiness, KPC aims to make a mark at the tournament and potentially add another continental title to its record.
