The United States leads the world in missions to the Moon, with 44 successful and semi-successful attempts as of April 2, 2026, according to data from Statista.
Russia follows with 23 missions, while China has carried out 10. Japan has completed six missions, India three and the European Union two.
The data also shows that Italy, France, Sweden, South Korea and Pakistan have sent experiments aboard US or Chinese rockets, alongside private firms from Luxembourg and Finland.
