Kenyan entertainer and media personality Oga Obinna has confirmed he will lead a delegation of boxers and technical staff to the State House following a personal invitation from the President.

In a video shared with his followers, the content creator detailed his recent conversations with high-ranking officials and issued a firm plea to the public regarding the nature of the upcoming visit.

The Plea: "Do Not Politicise This Visit"

Confirming the State House invite, Obinna revealed that the President contacted him to praise the initiative taken by the young people involved. Despite the high-profile nature of the meeting, the entertainer is urging Kenyans not to view the visit through a political lens.

Obinna emphasized that the delegation would include more than just the headline fighters, Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer. The group will also consist of referees, judges, and support staff such as "water boys" and "corner boys" who were essential to the event's success.

"When I take the boxers to go and meet the president, do not politicise the whole thing. I know how you think, but please, msifungie hawa watu baraka zao. I want everybody who was in the ring, everybody who made it possible... do not politicise that visit."

A Historic Milestone for Kenyan Boxing

The invitation follows what has been described as the largest sporting activity in the boxing space to ever occur in East and Central Africa.

The event, which recently concluded in Nairobi, saw record-breaking attendance and significant social media engagement. Obinna noted that the success of the tournament proved that Kenyans can organise massive events independently.

"It is possible for Kenyans just to organise something by themselves for themselves. There's no politician who's getting in this ring... because we are not going to turn this thing political."

According to the entertainer, the vision was initially met with some scepticism from potential partners who did not believe such a feat was possible in the local boxing scene.

However, the scale of the event eventually drew the attention of the country’s leadership, including eight different governors who reached out to offer counsel and support.

Advocating for Athlete Welfare

Beyond the ceremony of the visit, Obinna intends to use the platform to request long-term support for professional boxers. He previously made a humble request for housing and financial security for the "undercard" fighters, noting that current pay scales do not yet match their professional worth.

His proposal includes a plan to ensure that referees, judges, and support staff are taken care of for at least the next year to provide a stable foundation for the sport's growth.

Controversy and Future Plans

The announcement comes amidst ongoing fan discussions regarding the match between Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer. While some viewers questioned the outcome, Obinna clarified that the judges reached a unanimous decision to award the points.

He encouraged fans to re-watch the fight without bias, noting that the audience’s reaction at the venue also reflected the judges' verdict.

Looking ahead, the entertainer plans to take boxing to the grassroots level. He is currently in talks with several governors to organise similar matches within their counties.
