Entertainer Oga Obinna has criticised Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka for a high-profile hospital visit. The politician visited comedian Sammy Kioko, who is currently recovering at Nairobi West Hospital.

Machakos county askaris reportedly assaulted Kioko. The incident was severe. Reports indicate the comedian suffered significant injuries, including an allegedly broken leg.

The Politician's Gesture

Kalonzo Musyoka took to social media to share news of his visit. He posted an image and a statement regarding Kioko’s condition. Musyoka described the comedian as being "like a son" to him.

During the visit, Musyoka expressed his support for the family. He stated that he is praying for Kioko’s quick and full recovery. He also confirmed that he had held discussions with Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti.

According to Musyoka, the Governor is deeply concerned" about the assault. He claimed she is committed to ensuring the matter is handled with transparency and fairness.

"My hope and prayer are that this issue will now proceed with calm, sobriety, and a clear focus on the facts." — Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Good PR" Claims

However, Oga Obinna was not impressed by the gesture. The media personality suggested that the visit was a calculated move for public relations.

Obinna reacted to the news with a blunt critique. He suggested that people in power often wait for a tragedy to occur before showing up. He used a poignant Swahili phrase to highlight his point.

"WATU HUSUBIRI UKUFE NDIO WASIMAME KWA MATANGA." (People wait for you to die so they can stand at the funeral.) — Oga Obinna.

The entertainer argued that Musyoka could have used his influence much earlier. He maintained that a phone call to Governor Ndeti before the assault could have prevented the violence.

Questions Over Timing

Obinna’s main grievance centred on the timing of the intervention. He questioned why the leadership only acted after Kioko had been badly injured.

"He could have called the Governor a long time ago," Obinna stated. He believes an earlier intervention could have stopped the escalation that led to the comedian’s broken leg. He concluded his reaction by simply labelling the visit as "Good PR."

A Call for Justice

Despite the criticism, Musyoka has called for the public to remain calm. He emphasised the need for the truth to emerge without unnecessary distraction.

The politician stated that the most important factor right now is the dignity of the family and the well-being of the victim. He has urged for the case to be concluded in a just and respectful manner.

Sammy Kioko continues his recovery in hospital. The incident has drawn widespread attention to the conduct of county officials.
