The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a rescheduling of the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) maintenance to ensure smoother cargo operations at the Port of Mombasa.

The maintenance will now take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 04:00 to 11:00 Hrs, following consultations with stakeholders and a strategic assessment of current operations.

In a statement, KRA emphasised the importance of the rescheduling for maintaining efficiency.

“This decision underscores the collective commitment of all Government Agencies and the business community to ensure the efficient, smooth evacuation and movement of cargo,” the authority said.

The authority advised importers, exporters, clearing agents, shipping lines, and other stakeholders to pre-lodge documents and clear urgent consignments ahead of the maintenance period.

“Submit urgent declarations, complete payments, and clear cargo before the scheduled downtime,” KRA urged. It also highlighted the need to prioritise time-sensitive and perishable goods to avoid disruption.

KRA said the scheduled maintenance is aimed at delivering multiple improvements to the iCMS platform. These include better system performance and speed, enhanced stability and reliability, strengthened security, and an overall improved user experience.

“A better user experience with fewer customer complaints” is one of the expected outcomes of the upgrade, according to the authority.

The organisation acknowledged that the change of schedule might cause some inconvenience but thanked stakeholders for their cooperation.

“KRA regrets any inconvenience caused by this change of schedule and appreciates the continued cooperation of all stakeholders as we enhance service delivery,” it stated.

Customers are reminded that support services will remain available through official channels during the maintenance period. However, KRA also issued a disclaimer regarding financial transactions: it will not accept responsibility for payments not received, credited, or validated in the relevant KRA accounts.

Through this move, KRA aims to ensure that the iCMS system is more reliable, secure, and capable of handling increasing cargo volumes at the Port of Mombasa.

The authority encouraged all partners to plan ahead and complete necessary procedures early to minimise any potential operational disruptions.

The rescheduling follows the authority’s earlier plan to carry out maintenance between April 4 to 6, which was adjusted after engaging with stakeholders.

KRA’s proactive communication underscores its commitment to keeping the public informed while improving the efficiency and reliability of Kenya’s customs systems.

Kenya Revenue Authority said the adjustments reflect the authority’s dedication to delivering faster, more dependable services for all users.
