Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu has called on leaders to stop early political campaigns and instead focus on delivering development projects.
Ntutu said premature electioneering is distracting leaders from serving the public.
He said the country is spending too much time on politics at the expense of addressing pressing economic challenges.
Speaking in Mara ward in Narok West after handing over a 51-seater school bus to Rongena Senior School, the governor emphasised the need to prioritise service delivery over political rhetoric.
He said politicians will have enough time to campaign when the next general election approaches and that voters will judge them based on their development record.
“Those who will have failed to deliver meaningful projects will be rejected by the electorate,” he said.
The school bus, bought by the Narok County Government at a cost of Sh10.5 million, is expected to ease transport challenges for students and boost both academic and co-curricular activities.
Ntutu described Rongena Senior School as a growing centre of excellence, noting that the investment reflects the county’s commitment to strengthening the education sector.
The governor rallied support for the re-election of William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
He said the president deserves a second term, citing what he termed as commendable progress over the past three years.
Ntutu dismissed critics pushing a “one-term” narrative, arguing that such efforts will not succeed.
He noted that it is common in East Africa for incumbent presidents to secure re-election, pointing to recent polls in neighbouring countries such as Tanzania and Uganda.
“Ruto has delivered on much of his pledges and it is clear that Kenyans will give him a second chance,” Ntutu said.
The governor said the president has made significant strides in infrastructure development, food security, healthcare, and affordable housing, benefiting many Kenyans.
Ntutu reiterated that development remains his top priority, adding that his administration will continue investing in education, infrastructure, and other key sectors to improve residents’ livelihoods.
