Radio Africa FC secured the 2026 Masfo Inter Media Tournament title last weekend. The Westlands-based team triumphed at the Mashuuru Sports Complex in Kajiado.
The victory followed a tense final against Icon Radio. Both teams played to a 0-0 draw in regulation time. Radio Africa then won 2-0 on post-match penalties to claim the trophy.
The Path to Glory
Radio Africa showed strong form from the start of the competition. They topped Group B with six points. Their group stage performance included a 6-2 win over Sporty Radio and a 4-0 defeat of the FKF Influencers.

In the quarter-finals, the team faced Bus Radio. They progressed with a 3-0 victory. Top scorer Apollo Ambani led the charge in that match by scoring two goals.
The semi-final was a high-stakes match against the defending champions, SJAK FC. Radio Africa won 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Edward Chindia. This victory was particularly significant as it served as revenge for last year’s final, where Radio Africa lost to the same opponents on penalties.
"The semi-final was the toughest encounter as we played a well-organised opponent who were defending their title, but we edged them on finer margins,” said captain George Ajwala.
Leadership and Support
Captain George Ajwala credited the win to team discipline and support from management. He specifically thanked HR Manager Jemima Ngode and CEO Martin Khafafa for their continued backing of the sports team.
The Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) President, James Waindi, was present to oversee the event. He praised the participants for their sportsmanship throughout the one-day tournament.

"Congratulations to Radio Africa for winning the title. Next year we expect a tougher event, and we hope to reclaim our title,” James Waindi, SJAK President said.
Prizes and Participation
As champions, Radio Africa received a trophy and Ksh 15,000 in prize money. Runners-up Icon Radio took home Ksh 10,000, while SJAK FC earned Ksh 5,000 for their third-place finish.
Individual brilliance was also recognised. Apollo Ambani was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP). His prize included a return flight ticket to either Mombasa or Kisumu.
The 2026 edition of the MASFO Media Cup saw a significant increase in attendance. Mashuuru Director Victor Muli noted that the number of participants rose from 200 to 400 this year.
Other media houses in attendance included Mozzart Bett, Royal Media Services, Cape Media, and the Standard Media Group.

Radio Africa now shifts its focus to future assignments, aiming to maintain this winning momentum in upcoming sporting events.
