The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced a temporary disruption to its iTax platform due to scheduled system maintenance set for Tuesday night.
The tax authority said the maintenance will take place on March 31, 2026, from 10:00 PM to 10:30 PM, during which time users may be unable to access iTax services.
KRA noted that the brief downtime is part of routine system updates aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and security of its online tax services, which are widely used by individuals and businesses to file returns, make payments, and access tax compliance documents.
“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iTax from Tuesday 31st March, 2026, 10:00 PM to Tuesday March 31, 2026, 10:30 PM. We regret any inconvenience caused,” the statement read.
The iTax platform is a critical digital service that underpins tax administration in Kenya, enabling millions of taxpayers to meet their obligations without visiting physical offices.
KRA has advised taxpayers, agents, and businesses to plan ahead and complete any urgent transactions before the scheduled maintenance window to avoid last-minute disruptions.
Launched in 2012, iTax allows taxpayers to register, file tax returns, make payments, and access a range of KRA services without the need to visit physical offices.
Through iTax, Kenyans can handle different types of taxes, including Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), Value Added Tax (VAT), Corporate Income Tax, and Turnover Tax.
The system also enables taxpayers to apply for Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), check tax compliance status, and generate official documents such as tax certificates.
iTax operates 24/7, giving users the convenience of managing tax obligations at any time.
It also reduces errors and fraud by using automated calculations and secure digital processes.
KRA regularly updates the platform to enhance functionality, improve user experience, and ensure data security.
According to KRA, “iTax is central to our mission of making tax collection efficient and transparent."
It empowers taxpayers to meet their obligations conveniently while supporting national revenue growth.
With millions of Kenyans relying on it, iTax has become an essential tool in Kenya’s digital transformation of revenue services, promoting compliance and accountability nationwide.
The scheduled maintenance comes as KRA continues to push for digital transformation in revenue collection, aiming to make tax compliance more accessible and user-friendly for both individuals and businesses.
