Prophet Victor Kanyari, the lead pastor of Salvation Healing Ministry, has publicly backed boxer Mbavu the Destroyer.
Speaking during a recent Sunday church service, the cleric declared his unwavering support for the fighter ahead of his upcoming match.
Mbavu is currently gearing up for a high-octane boxing bout against his rival, Majembe. The fight is scheduled for April 4th and is expected to draw a massive crowd to the Kasarani Arena.
While many fans are focused on the physical odds, Kanyari’s endorsement is based on something else entirely.
Strategy Over Skill
Kanyari admitted to his congregation that Mbavu might not be the most talented athlete in the ring. He even poked fun at the fighter’s technique. The Prophet demonstrated how Mbavu struggles to throw a proper punch, describing his movements as awkward.

“I support Mbavu Destroyer, he says ‘Weka Mawe’ even though he doesn’t know how to throw a punch…but I have said I will support him even if it means defeat, let’s be defeated with him,” Kanyari said.
However, Kanyari’s support is rooted in business acumen rather than sporting prowess. He praised the boxer for his ability to generate interest and sell tickets.

"He is a marketer. He has marketed that fight," Kanyari told his followers.
The pastor noted that Mbavu’s promotional skills would ensure the venue is packed. For Kanyari, this "strategy" is a sign of intelligence that he believes is often missing in other sectors, including the church.
Loyalty in Defeat
The Prophet was blunt about his feelings regarding Mbavu’s opponent. He stated clearly that he does not like Majembe and hopes to see him lose the fight. Kanyari is so committed to his choice that he is prepared to share the weight of a potential loss.
Kanyari’s loyalty remains firm, regardless of the outcome. He told his followers that he would rather support someone with a clear plan and the "brains" to make a campaign "catch fire."

He suggested that such marketing intelligence is a vital asset for anyone trying to rise in their field.
The Big Event
The bout on April 4th has become one of the most talked-about sporting events in the region. Mbavu the Destroyer has built a significant following through his bold personality and catchphrases like "weka mawe."
Kanyari confirmed he intends to attend the fight in person to watch the spectacle unfold. While he acknowledges that Mbavu may "fall" due to his lack of boxing form, he insists that the boxer’s ability to "market" himself makes him a winner in his eyes.
The Prophet concluded that finding individuals with the strategy to elevate a brand—whether it be a church or a boxing match—is rare and deserves support.
