Residents in parts of Kenya’s Rift Valley have been gripped by fear following reports of a massive earth crack and unusual ground shifts, raising fresh concerns over geological instability in the region.

Images circulating online show extensive fissures cutting across roads and settlements, with debris and dust engulfing nearby areas. Experts have previously linked such occurrences in the Rift Valley to natural tectonic movements along the East African Rift system.

Authorities are urging calm and advising residents in affected areas to remain alert and report any signs of ground movement, as assessments continue to determine the extent of the damage and potential risks.
