Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has dismissed his removal from the Orange Democratic Movement leadership, saying he does not need a party title to lead.

"I will not go to court to contest. I will let them have their post. I will be the deputy party leader of Linda Mwananchi,” Osotsi said during a political rally.

His remarks come days after ODM delegates dropped him as deputy party leader during a Special Delegates Conference held at Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi.

The decision followed a dramatic session in which his nomination failed to secure a proposer and seconder, effectively locking him out of the position.

The convention also ratified Oburu Odinga as party leader, marking a new chapter for ODM following internal restructuring and emerging factional divisions.

Osotsi, who has recently been associated with the “Linda Mwananchi” faction allied to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, criticised rival camps, accusing them of pursuing personal interests at the expense of the party’s legacy.

He further took aim at what he termed “Linda Ruto” and “Linda Ground” factions, claiming some leaders had abandoned the founding ideals of ODM under the late Raila Odinga.

Despite the setback, Osotsi insisted his political influence remains intact, framing his ouster as part of broader power struggles within the party as it repositions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
