Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that the 2027 General Election will be a “revolutionary moment,” urging Kenyans, especially the youth, to register as voters and prepare to shape the country’s future at the ballot box.
Speaking in a TV interview on Sunday night, Kalonzo questioned Kenya’s commitment to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, saying many leaders and citizens have failed to internalise its provisions, particularly on national values and integrity.
“I ask myself how did we get here… People have not gotten acclimatised to the wording, the content, and the intention of the Constitution,” he said.
He criticised the executive over what he termed as inappropriate public remarks, saying a head of state must uphold decorum.
“There are things that cannot be heard to come from him… that foul language is unfortunate,” Kalonzo said.
The Wiper leader also referenced past protests, claiming there had been warnings of force being used against demonstrators, and urged young Kenyans under the #TukoKadi movement to register in large numbers.
"When Raila and I were demonstrating, we were advised not to go to Kamukunji because instructions had come out that when they appear there, shoot them on the legs. This shooting in the legs started a long time ago. That is why we are telling Kenyans it is time to register, with mass registration of voters beginning today. Young Kenyans who are saying #TukoKadi have to conclude this revolution,” he said, adding that the ballot, not violence, would be the tool for change.
Kalonzo also weighed in on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, describing him as a skilled political mobiliser facing a difficult situation. He said expressions of anger in politics should be understood within constitutional limits.
"Rigathi is a political scientist. I have admired him. I studied law, and he studied political science, and he is very good at mobilising. He is coming from a very difficult position of having been, in my view, unconstitutionally impeached," Kalonzo said.
"So the man is angry, and rightly so; there is such a thing as righteous anger. I don’t remember him calling somebody a dog or anything like that. It is just within his constitutional right; he may show anger."
At the same time, he faulted the President for remarks touching on past political alliances, arguing that leaders should be properly briefed before making serious public statements.
Turning to the electoral process, Kalonzo warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission against mismanaging future polls, saying the country cannot afford another disputed election.
“We cannot have another stolen election… 2027 is not a normal election; it is going to be a revolutionary election,” he said.
He added that electoral commissioners have a responsibility to restore public trust and ensure credible polls, cautioning against a repeat of past controversies.
"2027 is not a normal election; it is going to be a revolutionary election, and that is why we are calling out IEBC and telling them, 'You cannot afford to play with the future of this country," Kalonzo said.
"The history of Chebukati, Sam Kivuitu, and others—we cannot afford it because I have been a victim. We will not allow a situation where some firm will be allowed to come and mess up this country again."
Kalonzo maintained that the growing political momentum seen in recent rallies reflects genuine public support, insisting that wananchi are ready to use their votes to drive change.
