Kenyan entrepreneur and musician Akothee has for the first time revealed her little-known relationship with a high-ranking government official. The vocal star took to social media to clarify her ties to the Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo.

The clarification came after Akothee visited the PS at his office.

A Family Connection Revealed

In a lengthy Facebook post, Akothee ended the mystery surrounding their connection. She revealed that the relationship is familial rather than professional or political. She stated that Dr Raymond Omollo is her uncle from her mother’s side.

“Some of the people you casually disrespect online are not strangers to me. They are family. For instance PS Dr Raymond Omollo is my uncle from my mother’s side,” Akothee revealed.

The musician expressed deep pride in her uncle’s career. She noted that his position of leadership is a source of honour for her family, their local community, and the nation at large. She urged the public to understand that many leaders are not just public figures, but family members to those who know them personally.

“We have every reason to be proud of him not just as a family, but as a community and as a country.”

‘Earned, Not Borrowed’

Akothee used the opportunity to reinforce her own status as a self-made businesswoman. She told her audience that she does not rely on name-dropping or connections with government officials for validation.

She emphasised that she has built her career and her brand from the ground up through hard work.

This stance reflects her long-standing reputation for financial independence and entrepreneurial drive.

A Line in the Sand regarding Disrespect

The musician did not hold back when addressing "keyboard warriors" and online critics. She issued a stern warning to those who use social media to mock or insult leaders in positions of responsibility. Akothee stated that anyone who insults her uncle automatically loses the privilege of being in her inner circle.

“Anyone who finds comfort in insulting, mocking, or throwing careless disrespect at him has automatically disqualified themselves from my circle. That line is not negotiable,” she warned.

She argued that the culture of normalizing insults toward public officials must come to an end. According to her post, the positions these leaders hold require a level of discipline and responsibility that many critics may never possess themselves.

"Disrespect is not content. Insults are not intelligence. And noise will never equal substance."

Setting a New Standard

Akothee described her demand for respect as a "standard" rather than a simple request. She expressed hope that her message would reach its intended audience and change the way people interact with leaders online.

The post concluded with a defiant note, typical of the singer’s bold persona. She challenged those who might be annoyed by her stance, ending her message with the phrase: "IF IT ANNOYS YOU COME BEAT ME."
