The facilities are Meteitei Subcounty Maternity Hospital, Prime Care Clinic and Eye Clinic. The governor also unveiled an AI-powered TB X-ray machine and introduced audiology services.

“We are achieving our plan of bringing specialised medical care and advanced diagnostic technology closer to communities that need them most,” Sang said.

Sang, accompanied by his deputy Yulita Cheruiyot, said the Meteitei Subcounty Maternity Hospital is a modern 22-bed facility designed to provide safe and dignified delivery services.

He said the Prime Care Clinic and Eye Clinic will address the growing demand for management of non-communicable diseases and optical services.

The AI-powered TB X-ray machine is expected to enhance tuberculosis screening through faster and more accurate diagnostics.

The county has also introduced audiology services at the facility, to be offered twice a month, in a move aimed at expanding specialised care.

Sang said the county is focused on decentralising healthcare services from distant referral centres to the community level.

“We are on course to ensure the people of Nandi can access quality healthcare near their homes,” he said.

He described the new facilities as a game-changer, particularly in improving maternal health and early disease detection.

“Our mothers have in the past had to travel long distances to access safe delivery services. With this new 22-bed maternity wing, we are ensuring no mother loses her life while giving life,” Sang said.

He said the AI-powered TB X-ray would enable early detection of tuberculosis at the community level.

“With this technology, we are bringing world-class diagnostics closer to our people,” he said.

The Prime Care Clinic will serve civil servants and their families, offering a one-stop centre for convenient access to healthcare services.
