The Sunshine Development Tour — East Africa Swing is set for a significant expansion in its 2026/27 season, widening its footprint beyond the region with the introduction of a West African leg.
The upcoming season will feature eleven tournaments across Kenya and a return to Kigali for the SportsBiz Africa Championship, while also breaking new ground in West Africa.
The newly introduced Alpha Bravo Golf Classic is scheduled for November 18–21 at Lakowe Lakes Golf Estate, marking a major step in broadening the tour’s reach.
The season will begin with Qualifying Schools (Q-School), offering players a pathway into the tour and access to Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, as well as opportunities to secure full Sunshine Tour playing cards.

The East African Q-School will take place from April 7–10 at Limuru Country Club, followed by the West African edition from April 13–15 at Lakowe Lakes in Lagos.
The Lagos-based qualifier is expected to draw strong participation from across West Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal.
It represents the first structured pathway in the region linking players to continental and global opportunities through the Sunshine Tour system.
Q-School performances will determine players’ ranking categories and playing rights for the season, maintaining the tour’s merit-based qualification model.
The competitive calendar will then shift to Kenya, with the opening leg set for April 19–21 at Thika Sports Club.
Tour promoter Charles Gacheru noted that the expansion reflects both the growing demand for competitive golf and the success of the inaugural season.
“The first season showed us that there is real depth of talent across the region, and more importantly, a strong appetite for structured, competitive golf. Expanding into West Africa is a natural next step for us,” he said.
He added that the move will create a stronger continental pathway, allowing players to compete for ranking points and progress based on performance, while reinforcing a consistent and merit-driven structure.
The development follows a successful debut season that concluded in January 2026 at Karen Country Club, where Njoroge Kibugu was crowned the Order of Merit champion.
