Political commentator, Herman MANYORA, appearing before a magistrate's court on Wednesday, March 25, 2026/LEAH MUKANGAI Political analyst Herman Manyora has been charged with cheating contrary to Section 315 of the Penal Code.
He is alleged to have obtained Sh516,000 through fraudulent means in a Nairobi Hospital tender deal.
Manyora appeared before Paul Mutai at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, where he denied the charges.
The court released him on a personal bond of Sh2 million with two contact persons.
According to the charge sheet filed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit, Manyora is accused of allegedly obtaining money from complainant Josphine Luceno Kavulani.
Prosecutors told the court that the accused allegedly used fraudulent tricks to convince the complainant that he would facilitate the award of a tender.
"That between 15th August 2024 and 30th October 2024, in Nairobi County within the Republic Kenya, by use of fraudulent tricks, you obtained Sh516,000 from Josphine Luceno Kavulani as a price to facilitate the award of the tender number TNH/ITB/016/24/ENGINEERING at Nairobi Hospital to her company namely Sipho Construction Limited, which monies she would not have been paid to you were it not for the fraudulent tricks," the charge sheet reads.
Several witnesses are lined up to testify.
Among those listed as prosecution witnesses are the complainant Josphine Luceno Kavulani, Gilbert Nyamweha, Margaret Muiyro, Nelson Thiongo, and the investigating officer, alongside other potential witnesses.
During the court session, Manyora pleaded not guilty to the charge, prompting the court to grant him bond terms pending further proceedings.
Magistrate Mutai directed that the matter be mentioned on April 13 for directions.
