A landmark agreement set to be signed in Kampala is expected to transform Uganda’s agricultural trade by linking local producers to global markets through a modern commodities exchange platform.
AMAC COMEX, a commodities exchange platform by AMAC PLC, will on March 26, 2026, sign a partnership deal with The Grain Council Union (TGCU) of Uganda in a high-level ceremony attended by senior government officials and institutional leaders.
The signing ceremony will be graced by Uganda's Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija, Minister of Trade Francis Mwebesa, Finance Principal Secretary Ramadhan Ggobi, NSSF Uganda CEO Patrick Ayota, and TGCU Patron General Salim Saleh, reflecting the highest levels of government and institutional endorsement for this partnership.
The event has been described as a defining moment for Uganda's agricultural sector and its integration into domestic, regional, and global commodity markets.
The agreement will give more than 400 TGCU member organisations access to AMAC COMEX’s integrated platform for the first time.
These organisations represent millions of Ugandan farmers, cooperatives, traders and processors across the agricultural value chain, including grain, maize, nuts, fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea, herbs and animal feeds.
Under the deal, members will benefit from a live digital exchange that connects them to domestic, regional and international buyers for Uganda's full range of agricultural commodities, as well as access to the world's best verified global suppliers for TGCU members who import agricultural inputs and products.

They will also gain access to certified warehouses under the Warehouse Receipt System, enabling secure storage of produce and issuance of globally recognised receipts.
The platform further offers instant post-delivery financing through a network of 13 local and regional banking partners, alongside trade insurance and structured trade finance solutions, ending the cycle of distress selling that has long constrained smallholder incomes.
It will also ensure comprehensive local and international insurance products and structured trade finance solutions covering all AMAC COMEX transactions.
An integrated logistics network will also provide end-to-end supply chain services from farm gate to global markets.
AMAC COMEX Chief Executive Officer said the agreement marks a major step in expanding access to modern market infrastructure.
“Tomorrow's signing is a declaration that Uganda's farmers and agricultural cooperatives deserve access to the same world-class market infrastructure that drives agricultural trade in the most developed economies in the world,” the CEO said.
He added, “AMAC COMEX was built for exactly this — and TGCU's 400-plus member organisations are the perfect first-mover partner as we deepen our presence in East Africa. We invite the media and all stakeholders to join us tomorrow and witness the beginning of Uganda's agricultural transformation."
The partnership brings together AMAC COMEX’s technology-driven ecosystem with TGCU’s extensive membership base, positioning Uganda’s agricultural sector for deeper integration into global trade networks.
