Tom Mboya University has announced a major recruitment drive targeting both academic and administrative staff, in a move aimed at strengthening its teaching capacity and institutional support systems.
The university is seeking to fill dozens of vacancies cutting across specialised disciplines, with positions ranging from senior professorial ranks to entry-level administrative roles.
In the academic category, the university has advertised one position for Professor (Architecture), reference number TMU/ACA/01/26, at Grade 15A.
It has also opened one position for Associate Professor (Aquatic and Fishery Science/Blue Economy), reference number TMU/ACA/02/26, at Grade 14A.
At the Senior Lecturer level (Grade 13A), the university is offering one position in each of the following disciplines: Architecture (TMU/ACA/03/26), Civil Engineering (TMU/ACA/04/26), Chemical Engineering (TMU/ACA/05/26), Marine Engineering (TMU/ACA/06/26), Software Engineering (TMU/ACA/07/26), Pharmacy (TMU/ACA/08/26), Nursing (TMU/ACA/09/26), Cyber Security and Forensics (TMU/ACA/10/26), Data Science (TMU/ACA/11/26), Public Health (TMU/ACA/12/26).
Other senior lecturer positions are Environmental Planning and Management (TMU/ACA/13/26), International Relations (TMU/ACA/14/26), Governance and Public Policy (TMU/ACA/15/26), Sustainable Blue Economy (TMU/ACA/16/26), Education in Technology (TMU/ACA/17/26), Food Science (TMU/ACA/18/26), Forensic Science (TMU/ACA/19/26), Project Management (TMU/ACA/20/26), Remote Sensing/GIS/Geomatics (TMU/ACA/21/26), and Building Technology/Building Science (TMU/ACA/22/26).
The institution has further advertised multiple Lecturer positions (Grade 12A), with two vacancies available in each discipline.

These include one Senior Systems Administrator (TMU/ADM/01/26, Grade 13), one Legal Officer (TMU/ADM/02/26, Grade 12), one Assistant Internal Auditor (TMU/ADM/03/26, Grade 10), two Assistant Accountants (TMU/ADM/04/26, Grade 10), one Assistant Procurement Officer (TMU/ADM/05/26, Grade 10), one Clerk of Works (TMU/ADM/06/26, Grade 10), one Security Officer (TMU/ADM/07/26, Grade 8), one Technologist in Surveying/GIS/Geomatics (TMU/ADM/08/26, Grade 8), and one Technologist in Building Technology/Building Science (TMU/ADM/09/26, Grade 8).
Applicants are required to submit a detailed and up-to-date curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic and professional certificates, a National Identity Card or passport, alongside testimonials and other relevant supporting documents.
Qualified candidates must submit three hard copies of their application, clearly indicating the reference number of the position applied for, addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Tom Mboya University, P.O. Box 199–40300, Homa Bay.
In addition, applicants are required to email scanned coloured copies of the same documents compiled into a single PDF file to [email protected].
The application deadline is Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 5 pm.
Recommendations from at least three referees must be submitted separately under sealed envelopes before the deadline to the same email address.
The university stated that appointments will be on permanent and pensionable or contract terms, in line with government regulations, university statutes, and its human resource policies.
Tom Mboya University reiterated its commitment to inclusivity and diversity, encouraging applications from women, persons living with disabilities, marginalised groups, and minorities.
It cautioned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification and emphasised that it does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
