Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has opened up about the deep emotional trauma that his family endured during his disappearance.

Tuju, who resurfaced on Monday, said he considers himself blessed for being alive under the circumstances.

"My family is very traumatised. My relatives are traumatised and many Kenyans of goodwill were also traumatised by my disappearance,” he said.

Tuju clarified that he was forced to go into hiding after he noticed that a Landcruiser that did not have a number plate was trailing him.

“I was being followed because it is easy to know when you are being followed. After that I reported to Karen police station,” he said.

The former CS said when he reached Karen roundabout, the vehicle closed him forcing him to branch into Nandi Road and lost them.

“I then went into some roads in Karen and since I had already reported the incident, I abandoned the vehicle,” Tuju said.

Tuju said he did not report to the police station because he had lost trust in the service.

He cited cases of Kenyans who have been abducted and never found alive and those who also died mysteriously at police stations.

" I know Cyrus Jirongo died, Ojwang was killed Kenyans are being slaughtered like chicken," Tuju said.

“Gaitho was abducted in front of a police station where he thought he was going to seek security,” the former CS.
