Shabana FC player players training at Gusii Stadium/ANGWENYI GICHANAShabana FC have signed forwards Mambote Batshi Assis and Papa Doudou Dialo as they seek their maiden SportPesa League title.
Assis joined the Glamour Boys from AF Saint Christian in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Diallo, a Senegalese national, was signed from Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC.
Assis has previously featured for several clubs in Tanzania and Rwanda. At the same time, Diallo was a top scorer in the Senegalese League in the 2024/25 season but had an unsuccessful six-month stint with Azam.
Others who joined Tore Bobe in the mid-season transfer window are defensive midfielder John Owira from Bidco United, offensive midfielder Abdalla Hassan from FC Talanta and Jasper Omwando from Jamhuri Soccer Academy.
Jasper, a younger brother of Shabana midfielder Justine Omwando, was named as the Most Valuable Player during the recently concluded 82 Tournament in Nairobi.
Shabana secretary general, Elizaphan Kerama, said the new signings will play a key role in their bid for the league title.
Shabana are third on the log with 31 points, nine behind leaders Gor Mahia. Second-placed AFC Leopards have 36 points. Coach Peter Okidi, who has been concerned by their finishing, hopes the new signings will rejuvenate his attack.
The five are likely to make their debut when Shabana takes on Commons FC at Eldoret Showground in a Mozzartbet Cup fixture on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the club sent Maxwell Mulili on loan to fellow SportPesa League side Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet after being dislodged by Stephen Ochieng', who has eight clean sheets so far.
Separately, struggling Mara Sugar went on a recruitment spree, signing 15 players, including four goalkeepers: Netto Kaunda from Hillside FC, Samuel Guto from Superoots, Joseph Ogenda from Luanda Villa, and Samuel Oluoch from Kisumu All Stars.
Others are experienced winger Cliff Nyakeya from Gucha Youth, midfielder Longbert Kevin from JKU Sports in Tanzania, Kisumu All Stars' captain Biron Billy and forward Alex Imbusia from Vihiga United.
Also joining the millers are Nassor Shikokoti, Ainea Ndete, Daniel Wafula, Ibrahim Ochieng, Makamu Mwagalu and Tony Oloo.
