The Kenyan women’s national team maintained position 142nd in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking.  

The Harambee Starlets stagnated at the same spot since the last rankings were announced on 6 March 2025, despite losing three friendly matches in a row.

Starlets were hammered 5-1 by Morocco in Tangier on June 4 at the back of an identical 2-0 losses to Ivory Coast in April 4 and 8th respectively.

In East Africa region, Tanzania moved one place higher to position 137 in the world, Uganda maintained position 148 as Rwanda dropped a position lower to position 166. Ethiopia moved one place higher to 127.

Nigeria, are the highest ranked African  side at position 36, followed by South Africa at position 54 while 60th placed Morocco rounds up top three.  They are followed by Cameroon who moved two places higher to position 64 and  Zambia who dropped one place lower to position 65.

Meanwhile Egypt,  ranked 93rd globally, was the biggest mover in this edition, after climbing seven places.

At the global level football power houses USA maintained top spot, followed by Spain and Germany at position two and three in that order. South American giants Brazil rose four places  to position four, while England dropped on position lower  to position five.

Despite the disappointing results Starlets shift their focus in the CECAFA Women's Championship, in Dar es Salaam. Kenyan will kick off her campaign against Burundi on Saturday 15, June before battling champions Uganda on Tuesday 17, June.

 Beldine Odemba’s gilrs will face South Sudan on Thursday 19, June before concluding their fixtures against Tanzania on Saturday 21 in the round robin format.

Meanwhile, starlets will miss the services of experienced midfielder Corazone Aquino and winger Elizabeth Wambui, after failing to travel with the team.

The duo who feature for Tanzanian side Simba Queens were part of the players called up but failed to report to camp before departure for Tanzania on Wednesday night and are no longer in Odemba’s plans.
