Thiaw 44, is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most promising modern coaches. A former striker, he has transitioned seamlessly into the dugout with a philosophy rooted in dynamic attacking football and tactical discipline. As a member of FIFA’s Technical Study Group, he also brought his expertise to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia in 2022.
Tanzania kicked off their CHAN 2024 campaign in style with a commanding 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday August 2, 2025.
Co-hosts Kenya followed suit with a 1-0 victory over Congo DRC at Kasarani stadium, before Morocco overcame Angola 2-0 in the second group A clash on Sunday August 2, 2025. Madagascar played to a barren draw against Mauritania in their group B to round up match day two in Dar es Salaam.
The tournament continues this evening with co hosts Uganda taking on Algeria in Kampala group C at 8pm, and will be preceded by Niger vs Guinea at 5pm.
