Caroline Walusaga has been appointed AFC Leopards acting Secretary General until the next elections. Walusaga replaces the late Gilbert Andugu   who passed on after a short illness on 7 May 2025.

The  co-opted member of the club’s National Executive Committee (NEC), was appointed in accordance with Article 8:4 of the club’s constitution, which empowers the NEC to fill vacancies that arise mid-term.

In a statement released on Tuesday, 20 June 2025 the club said,

“The National Executive Committee hereby appoints Caroline Walusaga, one of our co-opted members, as the Acting Secretary General.”

 The club added that Walusaga will serve in the role until the current term ends.

Andugu succeeded Oliver Sikuku, who completed two terms, after securing 432 votes to beat rivals Robert Situma and Tonny Omusina  who managed  224 and 49 votes respectively.

The acting SG  Walusaga,  who is a human resource and administration manager by profession  joined the club in June 2022 and was co-opted into the NEC alongside Diana Kusa, to align the committee with the club’s one-third gender rule.

Walusaga will serve in an acting capacity alongside outgoing Chairman Dan Shikanda and Treasurer Oliver Napali until the end of the current term.

Shikanda whose terms ends in May 2025, confirmed the polls will be held on Sunday, 29 June, during the March 29, AGM in a yet to be announced.

Former Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards striker Boniface Ambani will battle Enosh Mutoka, Olympia Musonye, Ronald Namayi  and  Oliver Napali for the chairman’s seat.

Maurice Amahwa  who  formerly chaired Leopards rescue team was fronted to run for the  chair  person’s  seat by a section of  diehard club fans, opted out. He however said he would continue supporting the club and the winners.

Walusaga hasn’t confirmed if she will be in the ballot  for the secretary general’s  post but Isaac Mulindi,   Robert Situma and Tonny Omusina areamong candidates expecting to fit in  Andugu's shoes.

The new office is expected to execute the plan to move from community club to the corporate model, and also bring the elusive KPL title to the den for the first time since 1998.
